Declarative Preferences in Reactive BDI Agents

چکیده

Current agent architectures implementing the belief-desire-intention (BDI) model consider agents which respond reactively to internal and external events by selecting first-available plan. Priority between plans is hard-coded in program, so reasons why a certain plan preferred remain programmer’s mind. Recent works that attempt include explicit preferences BDI treat essentially as rationale for planning tasks be performed at run-time, thus disrupting reactive nature of agents. In this paper we propose method declarative (i.e. concerning states affairs) use them manner preserves reactivity. To achieve this, prioritization step offline, (a) generating all possible outcomes situated executions, (b) relevant subset situation/outcomes couplings representative summary each plan, (c) sorting evaluating summaries through agent’s preferences. The task several conditions translating procedural knowledge an ASP program using discrete-event calculus.

Modeling Pedestrian Mobility Preferences using BDI-Agents with Fuzzy Perceptions

User modeling can be used to enhance the usability and the accessibility of different human creations intended for use by human beings. Buildings, recreational areas, software, tools, etc, can be adapted or built considering the user needs, capabilities and preferences represented as user profiles. Different approaches have been taken in this field but further research and development is necess...

Implementing reactive BDI agents with user-given constraints and objectives

CASO is an agent-oriented programming language based on AgentSpeak(L), one of the most influential abstract languages based on the beliefs-desires-intentions (BDI) architecture. For many applications, it is more convenient to let the user provide in real time, a more elaborate specification consisting of constraints and preferences over possible goal states. Then, let the system discover a plan...

Going beyond BDI: Programming 'BDI+' Agents

The BDI model for intelligent agents has been very influential for both theoretical and practical research in agent technology. It gave rise to a form of agent-oriented programming which could be called ’BDI programming’, the programming of the mental attitudes of agents, where these attitudes pertain to notions in the vein of beliefs, desires and intentions. In this talk I will sketch how we c...

Situational preferences for BDI plans

In BDI programs it is quite common to find context conditions of plans which are over-constrained in order to ensure that the most preferred plan is selected for use. This is undesirable for at least two reasons. It makes the plan not available for use at all in situations where it could be of value as a back-up plan, and also it requires incorporation of information that conceptually belongs w...

Belief, Desire, and Intentions (BDI) agents are well suited for complex applications with (soft) real-time reasoning and control requirements. BDI agents are adaptive in the sense that they can quickly reason and react to asynchronous events and act accordingly. However, BDI agents lack learning capabilities to modify their behavior when failures occur frequently. We discuss the use of past exp...
